Clive Pickering

in a statement Clive said:

"I was born and bred in Barnsley and run my business in the Oldtown Ward. It is the longest established photographic studio in Barnsley.

I am a passionate campaigner on educational, social and economic issues and have a deep commitment to the town and its people. I am keen, enthusiastic and full of ideas of how to regenerate and improve prosperity in Barnsley.

My father came from Dodworth and mother from Worsbrough Bridge . I attended Holgate, when it was still an exceptional school. I believe that growing up in Barnsley is important because over many years our community has endured in ways that people who come into the town are unable to fully appreciate. As a result in the same circumstances their judgements are not ours.

Politicians and Councils tell us what they want us to know, not what we need to know. The ‘whole truth' seems to be absent from today's politics. We are entitled to honesty from the people who represent us and I promise that you will always get the full picture from me."

Clive is a member of the the ward's Community Partnership, Old Town Residents Association, the Crime & Safety Group and regularly attends the Pogmoor Residents association and Honeywell TARA meetings.

Among his hobbies Clive keeps rare breeds of hens and shows pedigree dogs. One of his dogs came third of its class at Crufts.
